Norwegian Easter Skiing!

Bags are packed, skis and cameras are ready. I’ve take the day off work tomorrow and after work today me, my wife G and sister K head up to Oslo in order to get some more bags, equipment and a good nights sleep before we head up to Beitostølen ski resort. I’m super excited for both alpine skiing and cross-country skiing. A few years back me and G where in Beitostølen with some friends and really liked it and I know all my grandparents have been here several time also. It’s a pretty small ski resort and there is some alpine skiing here but the big thing is the cross-country skiing where they have 320 km of tracks (some used for parts of the world cup tour) and some on top of the mountain which is absolutely beautiful. So Norway we we come!

Shopping & Sightseeing in Copenhagen

This morning I woke up in an sunny Copenhagen with snow in the air. I live a short walk from the train station and could see from my hotel window, it’s a pretty majestic building. I started of the day by take a walk to the pedestrian shopping street Strøget.

Started out by the city hall which is a enormous brick building with status and gold.

We walked along Strøget and took a side street in order to find H&M’s latest concept which is a store brand called Arket. I rather quick found two T-shirt’s and a woolen hat. Bit by wife won the shopping as she usually does.

The my sister and her boyfriend joined us and we had a quick hotdog at 7-eleven. Before we hoped on a hop on hop off sightseeing bus and a tour called the mermaid tour. Yes it actually takes you to the statue of the mermaid as a inspiration of the famous danish author H.C. Andersens story. The tour also show us Nyhavn a The Royal palaces in Copenhagen among other things.

After that we slit up for a moment me and the family and me and G got back to Strøget for some more shopping. And I spent some time taking some photos. The tour and the walking around Copenhagen has really made me see more of the great architecture of Copenhagen.

We finished of the night by dinner at the concept restaurant The Italian. Which obviously serves great Italian food. Where we had a three course dinner and some good wine, everyone excepts my sister which is pregnant. So pretty awesome day and I highly recommend The Italian.

Arrived in Copenhagen

Finally in Copenhagen and what I’ve been looking forward to this. So tonight have we checked in at Hotel Saga where we are staying this weekend.

After we had checked in we took a stroll down to the meet district that nowadays is a real cool district filled with cool restaurants. This the old meat district in Copenhagen. I was so impressed and I could go here many more times in order to try more restaurants.

However, we ended up at a place called BOB – BioMio Organic Bistro. Which looks like and old auto repair shop or an old hardware store from the outside. Interior and food as also amazing.

After the restaurant we called it a night in order to be well rested until the rest of the weekend.

Heading to Copenhagen

Friday and it’s finally time for Copenhagen, Denmark. Just working in the last minute changes in the luggage. Then down to the car and driving to work. Will work half day today is the plan and then I’m taking the train from Gothenburg to Copenhagen together with my mom. The train goes directly Gothenburg-Copenhagen. Then the hotel where we are staying is quite close to the train station. Super excited!

Just now the sun is rising and it looks like a beautiful day. Great start of the day.

Staring a chair project

Sunday and mixed feelings. A great weekend but my wife G is going back to Oslo and I’m going back to Gothenburg. However, I’ve got a project in the making. I’ve picked up five old school chairs from the first part of the last decade. What’s cool about stuff that old is that the material is massive. It’s good wooden material and the wood is massive. The steel is also the real deal.

What’s the plan? The plan is that I’m going to take of the chairs and make it the prototype in order to see how things turn out. The thought right now is to dismantle the chair. Sandpaper the surface of both the wood and the painted steel. Repair the damages to the wood and to paint it with clear coating. Then to spray the steel frame with primer a few times and the paint it leaf green and assemble all pieces again.

Super excited for all of this right know and very curious of how it all will turn out. Have you done something similar, please leave med some advice in the comments.

Winter Cottage

This time of the year last year me and G where planning our wedding up in our cottage in Dalsland. It feels like forever.

This weekend where up in the cottage again and it’s winter like last year but so much more winter, more snow and colder. It’s so cold the the water has frozen in me and Gs little cottage so we have to get water in her parents house. But it’s silent and absolutely stunning. The peacefulness I get here is not very many other place that can offer.

So the plan is to celebrate Gs moms birthday and just relax. I hope to get out on a small hike and to get out in the nature with my camera. Hopefully photos will show up later.

Oslo Cross Country Skiing

Oslo is an truly amazing winter city and cross country skiing is huge here! Yesterday where cross country skiing day for me and the wife and if you like cross country skiing this is not a bad place during winter time. Read somewhere that Oslo have about 3200km of tracks for cross country skiing. I might not be that surprising that they are one of the number one countries in the world in this sport.

Yesterday me and G went cross country skiing. We stayed in the district of Majorstuen and took the subway to Frognerseter with our skis. The we skies from there to a place called Tryvann which also have a downhill skiing facility and continued right by it down to the cottage in Ullevålseter. In Ullevålseter we took a break and had a Norwegian waffle and hot coco that we bought in the cafe that’s run by the sports club Lyn which is a pretty successful cross country skiing club. It all can be seen while eating there. The beams and walls are full of big trophies and prizes.

After that we continues down to Sognsvann where we took the subway back. So a almost 12 km trip in perfect conditions if you live cross country skiing this is a great route even if it’s a bit crowded from time to time.

Highly recommended. Even if I know this might not be the number one activity on your list of what to do in Oslo but it’s a great place for it. Just saying.

Towards Oslo

Oslo here I come! This weekend I will meet up with my wife G in Oslo again. No specific plans so far more than hanging out but I’m pretty sure we will come up with something.

I’m looking at restaurants and she have check out a music event with Swedish indie music and a pop up bar with a brewery from Gothenburg in Oslo. I’m also having some cross country skiing thoughts or coasting/sledging downhill. Will see but I keep you posted. Any advice or thoughts on what I can do?

Now the bus is driving the last stretch in to Oslo along the Oslo fjord. Not the best road in to a city I know but without a doubt one of the most beautiful. Few cities that have a more beautiful entrance.
