We’re now back home living in Sweden together again. Yes, that’s right me and my wife G are finally living together again.
It where with mixed emotions we pack up the last piece of our Norwegian home in Oslo and drive it back to Sweden last weekend.
This chapter of our life became an five years long one, where both me and G really have fallen in love with Oslo as a city and Norway as a country. But don’t worry we already are planning a trip to Norway the upcoming summer.
Mixed emotions to leave Norway but to be able to live together feels just great!
Swedes are probably the most weather obsessed people in the world. Oh, the second most obsessed people about weather in the world, I forgot about the Norwegians. So the safest topic you can have with a Swedes about the weather. A classic phrase would for example be “What weather we are having” and the other one will respond.
We care a lot of the weather and we can talk about how it has been and how it will be and even how it is. And the most important of it all is the summer. This I probably because the Swedish summer weather could vary quite much. And the origin to this post is that amazing and probably among the best summer weathers we’ve ever had in Sweden.
There is probably only one other nationality that cares more about weather and that is the Norwegians, as I mentioned earlier. I’ve got Norwegian friends that plans where to go in Norway from day to day just in order to get the best possible weather. Another Norwegian friend says he loves all kinds of weather and when in rainy and stormy weather he just mentions it as “there is much weather today”.
I don’t know any other people that cares so much about the weather, do you? Any suggestions on another nationally that would be able to compete with the Norwegians and the Swedes?
Today I flew to Stockholm again this morning for a leadership course at work and took a flight back home to Gothenburg and every single time I use the app App in the air. Suprisingly, this might be one of my favorit apps and I will break it down for you and explain why.
- All the info I want!
Yes, that’s right. It gives me all the info that I want, when I need it. When the check-in closes, when boarding starts, what gate I need to be at, when it leaves, when I should arrive and delays of there i any. Just magnificent. This is just how I want technology to work.
- Tracks me
This might be scary to some people but I find in fantastict I can look back and see where and when I’ve been to different places in the world when I’ve been flying. I even gives me home many kilometers and how many hours I’ve spent flying. In fact it even tells me what plane models I’ve flue with and what airlines.
- Beautiful and Easy
The app is just beautiful and shows with great grapics the statistics and the trips I’ve done on a map and then there are small acheivments thats fun to reach and really simple and easy to use.
Bonus. It works with my Apple Watch which feeds me the most importat info that I want without even have to take my phone out of the pocket.
Last night I biked through the city where I grew up and it was a surprisingly good warm feeling inside of me. A few years ago I probably felt a bit uncomfortable but now it where something else.
I biked back from a housewarming party that a coworkers girlfriend had with BBQ, beer, great people and a magical Swedish summer weather. Wether is by the way very important for us Swedes, probably only more important for the Norwegians, but that’s a totalt other blog post.
However, had a real great time last night and meet people from my hometown that I forgot about but that is real nice and somehow made me realize why I wanted to stay they forever when I was a kid. It’s a nice city and I somehow opened the door to some day maybe move back I think.
It’s a city that brought me a lot of great memories and friends. And after a couple of beers taking the bike back to moms apartment that I’ve borrowed for the night where a bit like being fifteen and on top of the world after a summer night out.
In short summary a real trip down memory lane in a modern and present day mode.
So last night I drove up to Oslo after work. It’s about a 3,5 hour drive but I usually stop for something to eat. G where out with her work so I got some time alone up here which I never anymore. So I had a beer and watching one of my new favorit tv shows Lethal Weapon and just relaxing. Pretty nice. From time to time I enjoy to get some time alone.
Late last night I drove home from the cottage in the countryside in Dalsland. Me and my girlfriend G have been there with some friends in order to do some plannning. Well, I guess it’s time to tell you, in May I’m getting married to G and we will get married in Dalsland.
So we have been to the venue and checked how we could have the tables. Meet the owner of the venue and the chef. We have also planed with our toastmasters A and S. But we also got the chance to hike around the lake. Even if was cold and came a lot of snow yesterday it was beautiful.
Arrived in south of Sweden after a day at work together with old friends that lives down here. Amazing to be here and to catch up. Had an amazing evening hanging out with my oldest friend A and his girlfriend P and their amazing kids and my friend C. So A have made a magical BBQ buffet for us when we arrived and me and C had some nice beer with us. So first we spent some time playing with the kids and after they went to bed we adults had some beers and watched some hockey and talked,
However, now it’s bed time in order to be ready for the world championships of hockey tomorrow in Copenhagen where me A and C will spend the entire day. I’m so looking forward to it! Good night see you tomorrow!
Today is just why I love being Swedish. First of all it’s a official holiday so I had a day off from work today. So I started the day by sleeping in and then a nice breakfast on the balcony in the sun and 25 degrees Celsius. In other words just perfect weather.
Then I had some must do stuff before I leave for the world championships of hockey in Copenhagen and my stay I. South of Sweden at a friends place. But by lunch my buddy S showed up so we made lunch and headed of the the sea. Amazing weather all day and we had a relaxed beach day where we pretty much had a small beach for our self. Just hang out and took a swim in the 14 degrees Celsius warm ocean. Which somehow became the highlight of the day. Love swimming in the ocean!
Now last minutes packing for the weekend! See you tomorrow!
I am speechless. This Easter weekend is among the best skiing experiences ever. Not necessary because the ski resort is the best ever but because the total experience involving weather, views and skiing where all with prefect conditions.
I spent Easter skiing in Beitostølen, Norway. Both cross country skiing and alpine skiing. Love both of them and grew up skiing both at least once a year but the last couple of years I’ve mainly been cross country skiing. Just because I own a pair of cross country skiis and I had 15 minutes from the door to my apartment to the tracks in the woods during the 3 years I lived in Oslo.
However, this Easter weekend I spent the first two days cross country skiing. The first day a short 5 km track in the world cup track in the Beitostølen cross country ski stadium and it surroundings which where nice, with good views, good tracks and nice afternoon/evening sun.
The second day I took a longer route and more of a cross country skiing hike on 23 km up the mountain and on top of the mountains and around a ice and snow covered lake with views of Jotunheimen which is a majestic mountain landscape that sometimes is called the roof of Norway because its many peak that’s higher than 2000 meters. Clear blue skies, sunny and warm weather, amazing views and perfect tracks and all just wild and raw nature. To be honest I don’t think cross country skiing can be any better that this.
Yesterday I where a bit tired from the 23 km cross country skiing the day before and decided to go alpine skiing because the ski resort of Beitostølen also offers this. Hired equipment and took among the first lifts up the mountain and then pretty much skied for the entire day and tried all slopes in the entire resort. I had a blast. Not the best slopes that I’ve tried but they where all prepped great and the views and the weather where absolutely amazing. I would do this any time if you asked me to go here again.
So now I’m back in Gothenburg again, arrived a few hours ago and couldn’t resist of sharing there photos with you guys. What’s you’re best skiing experiences? Please share and leave a comment below.
Bags are packed, skis and cameras are ready. I’ve take the day off work tomorrow and after work today me, my wife G and sister K head up to Oslo in order to get some more bags, equipment and a good nights sleep before we head up to Beitostølen ski resort. I’m super excited for both alpine skiing and cross-country skiing. A few years back me and G where in Beitostølen with some friends and really liked it and I know all my grandparents have been here several time also. It’s a pretty small ski resort and there is some alpine skiing here but the big thing is the cross-country skiing where they have 320 km of tracks (some used for parts of the world cup tour) and some on top of the mountain which is absolutely beautiful. So Norway we we come!
