Cross Country Skiing Day

Yesterday was cross country skiing day for me and my wife G here in Långberget. A fantastic day and +2 degrees Celsius which gave us some challenges with the grip. So the first longer skiing session this year. Felt really good and today’s distance became about 18 kilometers. We tried three different tracks today all with quite low elevation but I thought it felt really good and is used to much more elevation from when I cross country skies in Norway. However this was real nice!

The plan today is to go alpine skiing in Branäs the one of few ski resorts this far south in Sweden that I haven’t tried so far.

Winter Hiking Alone

The original plan where to go cross country skiing today here in Oslo but that plan almost literally melted away. Spring apparently arrived in Oslo today an the outdoor temperature has been between +6-13 degrees Celsius in a sunny Oslo. That where not my original plan.

However, I had a plan B that I’ve been looking into the since a few days back when I started to scout the weather and possible activities in Oslo. During these days I found a stunning post in the Instagram account @Oslo by @ingridheggheim from Grefsenkollen. So that where the main goal with today’s hike where to hike up the mountain of Grefsenkollen.

I hiked up the mountain in a route that sent up and around the mountain. After Grefsenkollen I had my sight set on Lachmannsfjell. That became a bit different hike because of snowy trailers and deeps snow and when I arrived to the peak it wasn’t any view but it was a good experience in finding routes, getting off track and hiking in 80 centimeter of snow, but when finding my way out of the woods and down the mountain alone. It was the first time I hiked alone and it where a bit different but I kind of got into it. Can absolutely happen again. I had nice views of Oslo and perfect sunny spring weather during the end of the hike down the mountain at it was an amazing day.

Tonight I’m heading back to Sweden and Långberget ski resort. For cross country skiing. Will be my first time there and I’m excited about trying out new tracks.

Winter Adventure Week!

It’s a special week. I’ve got a few days off, more exactly Thursday and Friday. Some even if it’s Monday I’m preparing for a mini vacation and winter adventure. Super excited.

So what’s the plan? The plan is to on Wednesday drive to Oslo, Norway for one night I order to pick up my wife and while she’s at work in Thursday I’m thinking if either get out skiing or an a short hike in the Oslo area. So when she gets off work I will pick her up and drive to Långberget, Sweden in order to meet up with the in-laws and go cross country skiing on Friday. The go alpine skiing on Saturday in Branäs. The. Hopefully get a short cross country session on Sunday as well before we drive back to Gothenburg again.

The bags are prepared and packed so I just need to prepare the last tomorrow and pack the car.

I’m super excited!

Next Stop London

Wheels up and I’m in my way to London, UK for the first time. Never been so excited but I’m getting there. So one of the first flight out of Gothenburg this morning and left a cold but beautiful city behind in the Scandinavian dark.

Why London? The main reason is that my wife G got in birthday gift when she turned 30 a visits to Harry Potter studios in London by me and her sister K. So that’s the main reason so we travel with Gs entire family including hers sister Ks boyfriend J.

Then is also a bit a reason for me for visit London for the first time. Then I hope to get the opportunity to take a lot of photos. Right now I’m on the plane and I will try to keep you updated during the weekend. But just thought it was time to kick off the weekend blogging already now. All recommendation in London for a first time visitor is more than welcome in the comment.

Most spicy beer ever

I’ve tasted beer with chili before but this one where really the next level. But why beer on a Thursday?

That’s a totally reasonable question. In Sweden we have summer normally from June to August. So when it today became a sunny Thursday with 20 degrees Celsius it’s a gift. It’s pretty much as Swedish summer in October!

So I just couldn’t let a summer evening possibility like this slip by without a beer on the balcony. The result ended up in me testing the Norwegian beer Habañero Helles Chilli Lager from the Ægir brewery. A perfectly good lager with a kick of Habanero. And that kick is spicy not just a little bit, it’s spicy for real unlike chili beers I’ve tried before. If you like spicy stuff you got to try it. Truly and experience and at the same time a good lager. However I would probably taste even better when it’s a bit more chilly outside (Yes, that was a wordplay and a Gothenburg-ish joke).

By the way the sunset where pretty good to!

However this years its been quite different and warmer than usually. The summers we are used to however has made us worship the sun and warm weather.

A sunny Thursday and 20 degrees Celsius outside. That’s pretty much as Swedish summer in October!

Sweden, we’re home!

We’re now back home living in Sweden together again. Yes, that’s right me and my wife G are finally living together again.

It where with mixed emotions we pack up the last piece of our Norwegian home in Oslo and drive it back to Sweden last weekend.

This chapter of our life became an five years long one, where both me and G really have fallen in love with Oslo as a city and Norway as a country. But don’t worry we already are planning a trip to Norway the upcoming summer.

Mixed emotions to leave Norway but to be able to live together feels just great!

Worlds most weather obsessed people

Swedes are probably the most weather obsessed people in the world. Oh, the second most obsessed people about weather in the world, I forgot about the Norwegians. So the safest topic you can have with a Swedes about the weather. A classic phrase would for example be “What weather we are having” and the other one will respond.

We care a lot of the weather and we can talk about how it has been and how it will be and even how it is. And the most important of it all is the summer. This I probably because the Swedish summer weather could vary quite much. And the origin to this post is that amazing and probably among the best summer weathers we’ve ever had in Sweden.

There is probably only one other nationality that cares more about weather and that is the Norwegians, as I mentioned earlier. I’ve got Norwegian friends that plans where to go in Norway from day to day just in order to get the best possible weather. Another Norwegian friend says he loves all kinds of weather and when in rainy and stormy weather he just mentions it as “there is much weather today”.

I don’t know any other people that cares so much about the weather, do you? Any suggestions on another nationally that would be able to compete with the Norwegians and the Swedes?
