First boat ride

Boat premiere! First time our little family where out with the boat. I’m grew up in the Swedish west coast and even if my family haven’t had its own boat we have almost alway been able to borrow one of relatives. So for me it was quite a moment to get out with the boat and Arvid (my son) for the first time.

It was also the first time me and my wife were out with the boat this year. It’s was nice and we had my sister in law and her boyfriend as company. We drove out to a place called Köpmannebro and bought ice cream and back. Took about two hours in total and proved for me and my wife that we are able to do stuff like this.

Always life jackets on! When near water there is life jackets on for kids. And in the boat not always for the kids but also for the adults. Most drowning accidents happened men with out life jackets that are out with smaller boats in lakes in Sweden. So take care and be safe out there!

Island of Ven

Good food, drinks and stunning landscapes. Ven is an island in the middle of the narrow between Sweden and Denmark.

Me and my G have just arrived to the mainland after 3 days on the island. Still I’m trying to find a reason to go back.

Our accommodation for our stay at Ven has been on the camping Camp Ven in our tent. This place as been really good. Clean toilets and showers. What I should call the right amount of guests. A bar and resultant with both good food and drinks much better than I’ve expected out of a camping. Good service, I can really recommend this place.

First day we spent settling down at the camping and having a nice evening with dinner and wine.

Our second day we rented bikes in order to ride around the entire island which takes about 90 minutes. A beautiful ride. However we to a break in one of the harbors to have a smoked salmon lunch with potato salad and a beer. After that we continued to a beach and took a swim and then returning to the camping.

After short stop at the camping we took the bikes to Spirits of Hven Backafallsbyn for a gourmet tasting. Where we tasted Vodka, Akvavit, Gin and Whiskey and learned what drinks you could do from some of them and proportions. The also talked about the history and the making of the different spirits and of the distillery.

After the tasting me and G had a great dinner at their restaurant. Where we both where very pleased with the food and the setting. Lovely outdoor section of the restaurant.

Then we headed back to to camping and took the ferry back to the mainland. The easiest way to get both to and from the island is by ferry from Landskrona.

Ven where a super nice short stop at our vacation and I can highly recommend it. The fact is that I would more than love to go back.

West Coast Kayaking

I’ve been kayaking before but last weekends winds where around 8-10 m/s so that where a decent challenge. Especially since it was the third time I was out kayaking at sea. However, I’ve spent more time kayaking in lakes.

The crew for the trip where 3 out of 4 members that will go to Lofoten in 2,5 week. It was me, my wife G and out Norwegian friend A. So we geared up and paddles out into the waves and it took some effort and about 2 hour before we reached the island Ängholmen about 5 kilometers from Marstrand that is a more famous location at the Swedish west coast.

There we set camp for the night and and had a really nice evening swimming, testing tents, sleeping gear and outdoor kitchens for the trip to Lofoten. Where a pretty nice test. Windy but rather warm temperatures in the air and sunny. Also got some pretty nice photos. And I had 24 hours without internet. I just sent texts telling my family when I arrived and left locations and took a few photos. Most photos however, I took with my GoPro camera.

Loved kayaking at the west coast so it might happen again.

3 weeks to Lofoten

In 3 weeks I’m heading up to Lofoten in Northern Norway together with my wife and my two friends A and H. Together we will make a Scandinavian adventure crew. Me and G two Swedes for Gothenburg and Mr. A an Norwegian living in Oslo, Norway and Mr. H a Norwegian living in Copenhagen, Denmark.

So preparations has slowly started. I will will keep you posted her at the blog.

I will most likely go offline for most of the time while there but I will also most likely write about it here on the blog when I get back. I will also write about the preparations and other trips and adventures until then.

Cross Country Skiing Day

Yesterday was cross country skiing day for me and my wife G here in Långberget. A fantastic day and +2 degrees Celsius which gave us some challenges with the grip. So the first longer skiing session this year. Felt really good and today’s distance became about 18 kilometers. We tried three different tracks today all with quite low elevation but I thought it felt really good and is used to much more elevation from when I cross country skies in Norway. However this was real nice!

The plan today is to go alpine skiing in Branäs the one of few ski resorts this far south in Sweden that I haven’t tried so far.

Winter Hiking Alone

The original plan where to go cross country skiing today here in Oslo but that plan almost literally melted away. Spring apparently arrived in Oslo today an the outdoor temperature has been between +6-13 degrees Celsius in a sunny Oslo. That where not my original plan.

However, I had a plan B that I’ve been looking into the since a few days back when I started to scout the weather and possible activities in Oslo. During these days I found a stunning post in the Instagram account @Oslo by @ingridheggheim from Grefsenkollen. So that where the main goal with today’s hike where to hike up the mountain of Grefsenkollen.

I hiked up the mountain in a route that sent up and around the mountain. After Grefsenkollen I had my sight set on Lachmannsfjell. That became a bit different hike because of snowy trailers and deeps snow and when I arrived to the peak it wasn’t any view but it was a good experience in finding routes, getting off track and hiking in 80 centimeter of snow, but when finding my way out of the woods and down the mountain alone. It was the first time I hiked alone and it where a bit different but I kind of got into it. Can absolutely happen again. I had nice views of Oslo and perfect sunny spring weather during the end of the hike down the mountain at it was an amazing day.

Tonight I’m heading back to Sweden and Långberget ski resort. For cross country skiing. Will be my first time there and I’m excited about trying out new tracks.

Winter Adventure Week!

It’s a special week. I’ve got a few days off, more exactly Thursday and Friday. Some even if it’s Monday I’m preparing for a mini vacation and winter adventure. Super excited.

So what’s the plan? The plan is to on Wednesday drive to Oslo, Norway for one night I order to pick up my wife and while she’s at work in Thursday I’m thinking if either get out skiing or an a short hike in the Oslo area. So when she gets off work I will pick her up and drive to Långberget, Sweden in order to meet up with the in-laws and go cross country skiing on Friday. The go alpine skiing on Saturday in Branäs. The. Hopefully get a short cross country session on Sunday as well before we drive back to Gothenburg again.

The bags are prepared and packed so I just need to prepare the last tomorrow and pack the car.

I’m super excited!
