Bags are packed, skis and cameras are ready. I’ve take the day off work tomorrow and after work today me, my wife G and sister K head up to Oslo in order to get some more bags, equipment and a good nights sleep before we head up to Beitostølen ski resort. I’m super excited for both alpine skiing and cross-country skiing. A few years back me and G where in Beitostølen with some friends and really liked it and I know all my grandparents have been here several time also. It’s a pretty small ski resort and there is some alpine skiing here but the big thing is the cross-country skiing where they have 320 km of tracks (some used for parts of the world cup tour) and some on top of the mountain which is absolutely beautiful. So Norway we we come!
This morning I woke up in an sunny Copenhagen with snow in the air. I live a short walk from the train station and could see from my hotel window, it’s a pretty majestic building. I started of the day by take a walk to the pedestrian shopping street Strøget.
Started out by the city hall which is a enormous brick building with status and gold.
We walked along Strøget and took a side street in order to find H&M’s latest concept which is a store brand called Arket. I rather quick found two T-shirt’s and a woolen hat. Bit by wife won the shopping as she usually does.
The my sister and her boyfriend joined us and we had a quick hotdog at 7-eleven. Before we hoped on a hop on hop off sightseeing bus and a tour called the mermaid tour. Yes it actually takes you to the statue of the mermaid as a inspiration of the famous danish author H.C. Andersens story. The tour also show us Nyhavn a The Royal palaces in Copenhagen among other things.
After that we slit up for a moment me and the family and me and G got back to Strøget for some more shopping. And I spent some time taking some photos. The tour and the walking around Copenhagen has really made me see more of the great architecture of Copenhagen.
We finished of the night by dinner at the concept restaurant The Italian. Which obviously serves great Italian food. Where we had a three course dinner and some good wine, everyone excepts my sister which is pregnant. So pretty awesome day and I highly recommend The Italian.
BAO Kitchen is located in the “old town” of down town Kungsbacka, Sweden. Rather close to the central station and Kungsbacka square. From what I know this is a rather new place that serves Asian fusion food.
The interior is probably best described as green and rustic with focus on nature and natural material such as wood. Not the most cosy vibe when I first looked in from the street but once you got in and got you table it was much better than expected and a nice relaxed vibe.
How about the food? I tried a bun meal and a salmon bowl. The buns where probably the best buns I’ve tried and the bowl where real good but not the best I’ve tried. Still very high class and this is without a doubt the best restaurant I’ve ever tried in Kungsbacka. The food where good, exciting and something new for me and as the same time high quality. Best restaurant in town! I highly recommend this place.
I’ve promised a review of 2017 but there is one thing I haven’t written about earlier and that’s the biggest event in my life so far and by far the biggest event of 2017.
What is it?!
I got married to G. It’s almost a year ago now or at least it will be in the end Of May. So from now on me and G are Mr. and Mrs. feels so amazing and the wedding where by far the best day of my life. Nothing else does even comes close to it to be honest. Me and G planned the wedding for over a year and everything just exceeded the expectations by I was so nervous when I woke up that morning but it all turned out great.
Promise a longer blogpost about the wedding later on this year. Maybe around me and Gs 1 year anniversary in May. But I just had to share this photo. I’m married!
There is thing happening in 2018 as well but not as big as this. However a lot of things is going on right now and I hope to share more about it along the way.
You might have understood already but I love watching The Winter Olympics. As a man born in Scandinavia I think this is born into our DNA. If you beside that grew up in Sweden playing ice hockey it’s a sure thing. So, I’m suer excited and I will be watching quite some Olympics within the next couple of weeks. So I just couldn’t write about it. Here I just had to share some thoughts.
There are a few things that is more important than other. First of all the ice hockey tournament. I’m a big fan and for me who loves hockey its the greatest hockey tournament of them all. However, this year is the first time in many years that the NHL stars won’t be allowed to join there teams. Its a bit sad but despite this I think this fact will play to Team Sweden’s advantage. Because we got so many players that have been on the edge to play in the NHL but have chosen to play in Europe instead. Both the KHL (The Russian League and the second best league in the world) and that plays in the SHL (The Swedish Hockey League, the third best league in the world). This makes Team Sweden in my eyes the second best team in the tournament on paper after OAR (Team Russia, that isn’t allowed to plays as Russia). But the Russians often has problems to play as a team and that might work to Team Sweden’s advantage. Of course Finland, Czech Republic and Swiss will be dangerous contenders as well but I really think we got a good chance here. Super exited about this one.
Second focus is the cross country skiing and after living in Norway for many years this is important and very closely connected to bragging rights and survival while being in Norway. The most importation thing here to beat the Norwegians for the Swedes and for me (and for the Norwegians the most important to beat the Swedes. Neighbor rivalry). But the first day of the Olympics Charlotte Kalla won a gold medal and that was a great start!
Then there is some many cool and fun events to watch besides these two but this will be a great couple of weeks. Lets go Sweden!
The Upper House Spa is located near Korsvägen in the Gothia Crown Skyscraper in Downtown Gothenburg and I would say that is the most centrally located spa in a big city that I’ve ever visited.
The concept is brilliant. And outdoor pool 50 meters above the ground totally in glas which means that you can see through the bottom of the pool down to the ground and get a pretty amazing view of the city and the nearby amusement park Liseberg. And the indoor spa have huge panorama windows that gives you a beautiful view of the city. I think this part is pretty genius to be honest. The view of the city from above gives you somehow a kind of peacefulness. This is also the newest spa as I know about in Gothenburg.
The interior is clean, modern with thick ropes as hangers for your bathrobe and a lot of black stone and blue pools. It’s modern and beautiful. Just right for a spa in this location.
The spa itself offers three pools, an experience shower with different kinds of waterfalls. An ice bucket to cool of. Two kind of saunas and a Hamam. Which is like a sauna with hot stone benches. And there is also a relax room where you can lay down an drink water and eat fruit. Other spas I’ve visited had more to offer, but for a few hours which where the case for my evening visit here The Upper House Spa where just perfect. Not to much and to to little but just the right amount.
I enjoyed this spa very much and could definitely good back soon again. Highly recommended and among the best spas I’ve been to.
I’ve got two trips planned this spring and both are to Copenhagen, Denmark. There tow different kinds of trips and the first one will be already in March and the second one in May. The last one was book just a few hours ago so I’m super happy about it. Especially because I went to bed last night thinking the it would be a while before my next trip.
The first trip will be a family trip in order to celebrate my moms birthday together with my sister, her boyfriend V and off course my wife G. The plan is pretty simple, to hang out with my family to eat good food and have a relaxed and nice weekend. All tips for good restaurants and things to do are more than welcome. If you got any please leave a comment below.
The second trip will be a hockey trip in order to see IIHF World Championships 2018. So an all day in Copenhagen in order to see three games with Team Sweden as the big game together with two friends. Me and Alexander that’s going to join have been watching and discussing all Hockey World Championships since 1992 together sp its kind of a big deal and its the first time we will watch any of the games live. Super excited about this one as well.
Now are both trips official. I just have to finalize the last details on these trips but I’m so looking forward to both of them. I visited Copenhagen in March 2015 last time and really started to like the city so, I’m real happy to go back.
Here are the post from 2015 if you would like to catch up.
