It’s back! Lifeguard Thursday! Back in Gothenburg and trying to get into good routines and good habits. Before I moved to Oslo I trained lifeguarding once a week and where even competing in it. After moving back to Gothenburg it’s been a bit difficult to settle in and get things to work with a new job and a lot of traveling to Oslo and finding an apartment among other things but now I’m hoping all of that is set and I’m good to get to start with the lifeguarding again.
It’s now everyone that knows that lifeguarding is a sport that you could compete in and in Scandinavia we got a lifeguarding competition called Nordic relay that’s adapted to indoors which I’m real great full for with our climate. However there is also international versions and competitions. Did you for example know that USA tried to get the international type of the sport to become and Olympic sport.

Friday I’m heading to Oslo and Norway this weekend and I’m super excited. Two reasons why, first of all I love Oslo and it feels like home after been living there for three years. Second met and my wife G plans to go cross-country skiing. Drive up my skies a few weeks ago and from out apartment in Oslo there is about 15-20 minutes from our door to the ski tracks. Just take the subway with my skis the entire way. How many capitals in the world could you do something like that? It’s over hundred of miles of tracks for cross country skiing. That’s just insane to be honest but you can easily understand why they are so good in cross country skiing (most likely topic for the upcoming Olympic Games).
So right now I’m hoping for good conditions this weekend I Oslo.
What’s you plans for the weekend?
After my trip to Mexico I’ve learned a bit more about Mexican beers and have a few conclusions. First of all a lot is similar to Corona. What do I mean? It’s refreshing, light and perfect summer beers. And after reviewing the beers I’ve got to say that these three are equally good and if you want to try different beers from Mexico I recommend these three.
Recommendation when drinking an Mexican beer is to add a slice of lime into it. This is mainly accepted for corona but works with many of it fellow beers from Mexico.
1. XX Special Lager
Just as it says a lager. Rather light and might be the heaviest on my top three if now a light lager can be heavy. A typical and rather common beer that I hadn’t seen before I went to Mexico. However, since I’ve arrived back home to Sweden I’ve found it in at least one Mexican restaurant.
The Mexican classic. Light refreshing beer perfect for hot summer days and that this one is the Mexican beer that are the most famous world wide is not a coincident. To add the lime is probably almost a must.
This one is probably a lager on paper and in theory but for me is somewhere in between a lager and a corona kind of beer. Really liked it and the design is old school and feels genuinely Mexican which I really appreciate.
However the most special beer I drank in Mexico where La Holboxeña which is a porter with a rather distinct taste of coconut. If you like coconut and porter or just want to try something very different I would recommend it if not skip it.
I’ve found the “old” tv series The Allegiance on the public tv channel in Sweden which is a tv serie from 2015. And I’m totally sold at it.
Russian spies, CIA and FBI agents. A classic set up for a spy thriller but this one is with twists and turns that I had not expected. Honestly I’ve spent more time watching this series today than I would like to admit but now I’ve seen it all and surprise, I thought it was great.
Have you seen it? Leave a comment and say what you thought about it.
By the way attached the trailer.
That’s right, last night I swam 50 meters up on the outside of one of Gothenburg tallest building Gothia Crown.
After work last night med and some coworkers went out for dinner first at Ristoria, an Italian restaurant. I tricked my coworkers that didn’t drive to have a spritz Aperol with me. It was a good one. Then we had some nice Italian pizza and I had some sorbet for desert.
and then spa on what I would say is the newest spa in Gothenburg. The Upper House spa in Gothia Crown one of the tallest buildings in town. Where I first had a treatment and then we tried out the pools and the saunas. It was a great evening and a well deserved evening after a hard week at work.
Just watch the views! It was amazing!
What’s your favorite spa?
Finally I got to hang out with my buddy S. Which originally is a lifeguard buddy. But nowadays we mainly hang out have dinner and discuss life such a as relationships and work and it’s nit unusual that we drift into philosophical questions. However, it’s been a while since last time so we tried to catch up and I really needed that, got a lot of energy and had a lot of fun. We started to challenge each other by playing with my little remote controlled helicopter by trying to land it on different surfaces around the apartment. It’s something special when adult get stuck in challenging sachet with toys. I’m pretty sure none of us will ever totally grow up but isn’t that the charm of it all?
Leadership is an focus that the construction firm I work for have. So today I’ve been in Stockholm at our headquarters in order to start a leadership education. The teacher where among the best I’ve ever had and got to admit that I’m pretty impressed even if I read obj studied the subjects for today earlier. Today’s topic where leadership styles and personality types. Really inspired and looking forward to continuing the course.
