The Olympic Games 2018

You might have understood already but I love watching The  Winter Olympics. As a man born in Scandinavia I think this is born into our DNA. If you beside that grew up in Sweden playing ice hockey it’s a sure thing. So, I’m suer excited and I will be watching quite some Olympics within the next couple of weeks. So I just couldn’t write about it. Here I just had to share some thoughts.

There are a few things that is more important than other. First of all the ice hockey tournament. I’m a big fan and for me who loves hockey its the greatest hockey tournament of them all. However, this year is the first time in many years that the NHL stars won’t be allowed to join there teams. Its a bit sad but despite this I think this fact will play to Team Sweden’s advantage. Because we got so many players that have been on the edge to play in the NHL but have chosen to play in Europe instead. Both the KHL (The Russian League and the second best league in the world) and that plays in the SHL (The Swedish Hockey League, the third best league in the world). This makes Team Sweden in my eyes the second best team in the tournament on paper after OAR (Team Russia, that isn’t allowed to plays as Russia). But the Russians often has problems to play as a team and that might work to Team Sweden’s advantage. Of course Finland, Czech Republic and Swiss will be dangerous contenders as well but I really think we got a good chance here. Super exited about this one.

Second focus is the cross country skiing and after living in Norway for many years this is important and very closely connected to bragging rights and survival while being in Norway. The most importation thing here to beat the Norwegians for the Swedes and for me (and for the Norwegians the most important to beat the Swedes. Neighbor rivalry).  But the first day of the Olympics Charlotte Kalla won a gold medal and that was a great start!

Then there is some many cool and fun events to watch besides these two but this will be a great couple of weeks. Lets go Sweden!

Skiing Weekend!

This weekend I finally went skiing. After last weekends failed attempt to go cross country skiing due to a sick wife we finally made it this weekend.Perfect weather with clear blue sunny skies, a lot of snow and minus 13 degrees Celsius. Doesn’t get much better than that to be honest. We went to a place about 1 hour north of Oslo by car called Brovoll. The only way to get there is by car as I know. This isn’t a ski resort or something like that but an small place that was recommended by Norwegian friends. A small house with a small cafe and just first class tracks for cross country skiing. Where an amazing weekend and getting out into the woods on skies a sunny winters day is hard to beat. The snow covered trees and the meter think layer of snow that covers the ground. The silence of absolutely nothing is breathtaking. When I go skiing in that kind of conditions everything else just disappears. It’s good for me I’m sure it that. By the way had my GoPro with my and just had to try it out. Might come a short video later.Have you tried cross country skiing? Let me know if you want to try Brovoll and I can give you the location more exact.

Ski weekend?

Friday I’m heading to Oslo and Norway this weekend and I’m super excited. Two reasons why, first of all I love Oslo and it feels like home after been living there for three years. Second met and my wife G plans to go cross-country skiing. Drive up my skies a few weeks ago and from out apartment in Oslo there is about 15-20 minutes from our door to the ski tracks. Just take the subway with my skis the entire way. How many capitals in the world could you do something like that? It’s over hundred of miles of tracks for cross country skiing. That’s just insane to be honest but you can easily understand why they are so good in cross country skiing (most likely topic for the upcoming Olympic Games).

So right now I’m hoping for good conditions this weekend I Oslo.

What’s you plans for the weekend?

This weekend has been a bit more intense tha usually because I had to get back earlier today to Sweden. In order to celebrate my dad who turned 55 earlier this week. Where a nice party and I got to see my sister for the first time since Christmas.

So what have I done more this weekend? Friday I drove up to Oslo and my girlfriend G where at a film shoot and came home after me so I had some time to watch 2 episodes of the Tv serie breakout kings. And than we had some wine and just hung out.

Saturday we drove to Brovoll which is about a 1 hour drive north of Oslo into the maountains and went cross country skiing and it was so calm and peaceful and the nature where just amazing so at one point I just had to stop just to enjoy the quiteness, amazing. And the view where stunning lite a winter wonderland.

Later that night we drove back to Oslo and went to see Singin In the Rain at Folketeatret. Great musical and great show which ended a great day.

World Championships in cross country skiing

Forth day in a row that I’m watching cross country skiing. Watching in at Norwegian public broadcasting company NRK. And it’s quite entertaining. Right now it’s world championships in Falun Sweden and the interest in Sweden is big but here in Norway it’s even bigger. This is a big sport in Sweden but it’s even bigger in Norway and both nations are really good. I would say that Norway is the best nation in the world but all Swedish gold medals and every day we are beating the Norwegians are good days.

And today Sweden won another gold.

Ladies Skiathlon

Not all days I’m a big fan and are so Swedish and exciting about cross country skiing and to really sit down and watch it, or in this case more hover a few centimeters above the sofa. Just seen the ladies skiathlon in the world championship in cross country skiing and what a race. So exciting and what fight between Johaug (Norway), Jacobsen (Norway) and Kalla (Sweden). Congratulations to then all and now I’m recharging for the skiathlon for men later today.

As you can see is the Swedish flag is out in order the cheer for team Sweden.

Mixed Sunday

Today has been a mixed day. Slept until I woke up which always is nice but had a feeling of mixed emotion today. Don’t know what is it but some days just are that way, probably a bit tired I would guess.

Have been out skiing 11 km today again. Was hard work to mange that distance today. Neither skies or conditions where perfect but was nice to get some exercise and to spend time with G. Had the entire weekend together which has been amazing. And think I love here even more than ever right now.

Working on some trips still the trip to Rome had some problems but hope I’ve solved them during this afternoon otherwise I have to solve it in another way.
