Oslo is an truly amazing winter city and cross country skiing is huge here! Yesterday where cross country skiing day for me and the wife and if you like cross country skiing this is not a bad place during winter time. Read somewhere that Oslo have about 3200km of tracks for cross country skiing. I might not be that surprising that they are one of the number one countries in the world in this sport.
Yesterday me and G went cross country skiing. We stayed in the district of Majorstuen and took the subway to Frognerseter with our skis. The we skies from there to a place called Tryvann which also have a downhill skiing facility and continued right by it down to the cottage in Ullevålseter. In Ullevålseter we took a break and had a Norwegian waffle and hot coco that we bought in the cafe that’s run by the sports club Lyn which is a pretty successful cross country skiing club. It all can be seen while eating there. The beams and walls are full of big trophies and prizes.
After that we continues down to Sognsvann where we took the subway back. So a almost 12 km trip in perfect conditions if you live cross country skiing this is a great route even if it’s a bit crowded from time to time.
Highly recommended. Even if I know this might not be the number one activity on your list of what to do in Oslo but it’s a great place for it. Just saying.
BAO Kitchen is located in the “old town” of down town Kungsbacka, Sweden. Rather close to the central station and Kungsbacka square. From what I know this is a rather new place that serves Asian fusion food.
The interior is probably best described as green and rustic with focus on nature and natural material such as wood. Not the most cosy vibe when I first looked in from the street but once you got in and got you table it was much better than expected and a nice relaxed vibe.
How about the food? I tried a bun meal and a salmon bowl. The buns where probably the best buns I’ve tried and the bowl where real good but not the best I’ve tried. Still very high class and this is without a doubt the best restaurant I’ve ever tried in Kungsbacka. The food where good, exciting and something new for me and as the same time high quality. Best restaurant in town! I highly recommend this place.
Second day waking up in Levanto right outside the first Italian national park which is Cinque Terra National Park. Read somewhere that it was founded in 1999 that’s pretty late for me as a Swede where the first national park opened in 1909.
However yesterday it was just me and my girlfriend G that where hiking and we hiked between Riomaggiore to Manorola and then to Corniglia. All beautiful places but today the plan is to hike between Corniglia and Vernazza together with G’s family that arrived this morning. And before we leave for the hike it’s time for some lunch.
By the way now the hike is done and added some photos from the day here.
Last weekend my to be in-laws are here (my girlfriend G’s family). And Saturday we went Nordic skiing near Solli Gård (Gård=farm). Went all together for a rather easy trail but as always here in Norway with beautiful nature. One of my favorite things about this country. Afterwards we stopped by a cafe at the farm and had some hot chocolate. Tasted real good then.
Thought I would share some photos from this.
